Wayward Sun: Solar

Wayward Sun.png
Wayward Sun is veritable giant - standing some eight and a half feet tall in his boots. His four arms, great stature, and chiseled figure give him his most common periphrasis, 'Son of the Sun'. As far as he is aware, this is not exactly true, and thus he usually refers to Sol Invictus as his 'Adoptive Father' - just as He adopts all Solars.

Wayward is never found without his hammers, whether on his person or nearby.

Anima Banner: Wayward's anima banner usually depicts an even larger version of himself, bearing one of the Unconquered Sun's four implements, depending on his task at hand.

Limit Trigger: When someone he cares for is seriously injured or slain.

Background

The boy who would become Wayward Sun was born in Realm Year 770 to a Haslanti mother, and given his exceptional nature, she was shamed and exiled. His rumored father protected the both of them from immediate violence, but no one would speak with or host her. She made her way South, staying a few months in various places, at least until her son's nature came to light. Then it became very difficult to do any sort of trade, and so she moved South again, frequently surviving on her own.

She never spoke of his father, and indeed for many years he thought nothing of it. She only ever called him 'Son', and needing to isolate him left him with no small ignorance of social situations, including the very concept of names. He only knows his mother's name by happenstance, and when it is asked of him, he tends to be somewhat confused.

As he grew older, his mother went to greater lengths to isolate him; for it caused all the more ruckus when he was inevitably exposed. His chisel-perfect figure drew almost as much attention as his rapidly-growing stature and limbs did. The obvious implications gave them a measure of protection from violence - at least from masses. Crazed lunatics would occasionally plot solitary ambushes, which the boy or his mother were capable of dealing with.

Rarely able to properly interact with people, he interacted with wood and stone instead. Sometimes metal. His mother had an easy time selling his sculptures, and the boy was able to make relatively quick shelters for the both of them. She occasionally brought him books to read, and never stopped him from acquiring such on his own. Compared to his skills at construction, any semblance of an education may as well have never been.

As he matured into a man, occasional would-be paramours came into his life. These were associations born of pure lust; his personality being nowhere near as refined as his physique. For her part, the woman who raised him did her best not to interfere, but it made little difference. Eventually they would be forced away, and what few sparks that may have inflamed to love could not follow.

One day, mother and Son met an Immaculate Monk and his porter at a crossroads. Suspicious of the large man's cloak, the Immaculate tore it off.

The porter then uttered what were to be his last words, proclaiming who must have been the father of the four-armed man.

For his heresy, the Immaculate cut down his own porter, and then lunged for the Son. Wayward's mother leaped to his defense, grievously wounding the monk. The monk's anima erupted in rage, and he cut the woman down.

And then the Son was Chosen.

Lore Background

Wayward Sun's studies tended to focus on ways to discover his father. While largely fruitless, he does know a few things about ghosts, the nature of souls and Lethe, god-blooded and their associated tells, and the like.
